Choosing the best natural cat litter for your cats

As a cat owner, it is hard to choose the cat litter from different kinds of cat litter, because more and more cat litter want to try the natural cat litter to replace traditional clay litter. As a participant in the Coursera and Northwestern social marketing program as well as a cat owner, I have found two articles to compare different kinds of natural cat litter. 

The first article, titled “The Best Natural Cat Litter-Top 5 Biodegradable Litters That Really Work” by Mallory Crusta, focuses on the difference between natural cat litter and traditional clay litter and the advantages and disadvantages in different cat litter composition. The traditional clay litter is still the most popular type but it will damage the environment and the cat and its owner’s health. According to the cat litter composition, there are 4 key components are different including the cat comfort, the natural odor control, the clumping ability, and the minimal dust.

The second article, written by Only Natural Pet Team and titled “Choosing The Best Natural Cat Litter,” echoes particular different compositions and its safety. This article highlight 4 points of each natural cat litter include cleaning, safety, performance, and consistency. It also mentioned the advantages of traditional clay and silica litters.

Drawing on these two articles and my experience, I have listed three actions that I would recommend to people who want to use natural cat litter: 

• Odor Control - Quickly absorbs ammonia and urine odor without needing perfumes and chemicals. 
• Clumping Ability - Fast clumping and easy scooping. 
• Minimal Dust - Low tracking potential and low dust.
